Argo’s Conquest Series of XTVs are made for customers who need an XTV to transport cargo and personnel to remote sites i.e., ice road construction sites, utility, mining, and exploration sites.
Loch Lomond Equipment Sales modifies the Argo Conquest XT to a perfect XTV for remote access applications. The modified XTV is known as the Argo Conquest XT Winter Road Edition and is only available from Loch Lomond Equipment Sales.
This new modified XTV ensures people working in cold remote locations remain warm and comfortable. The Winter Road Edition features a perfectly designed aluminum cab, heater, and some other custom options.
Since 2008, Loch Lomond Equipment Sales has been offering equipment for winter ice road construction & accessing remote sites in Ontario and Manitoba.
The Argo Conquest XT - Winter Road Edition is for exploration companies, utility companies, and First Nation Communities that need XTVs for remote access. However, the XTV works perfectly in shoulder seasons such as late fall and early spring.
As mentioned above, the Argo Winter Road Edition is made from the Argo Conquest XT base model - an amphibious XTV that comes equipped with notable accessories such as ROPs (Roll-Over-Protection System) and seatbelts meant to protect the operator and passengers in case the XTV rolls over.
Loch Lomond Equipment Sales modifies the base model by installing a cab and tracks. The cab is fitted over the existing roll-over protection (ROPS) without welding or drilling to maintain structural strength and integrity.
The end result is an improved XTV with a cabin that offers protection from harsh winter and tracks that can tackle the harshest remote areas in Ontario and Manitoba. Added tracks give the XTV unmatched traction and boost performance.
The custom cab is made of aluminum which is strong but lightweight. The cab features sliding side doors that offer quick and easy access/exit. The cab also has a rear self-storing door that offers added insulation from weather elements.
Besides installing a cab and tracks, we can also install a heater – The Webasto fuel-fired heater. As the name suggests, this heater is powered by fuel taken from the Argo’s gas tank. This relieves pressure from the engine allowing the XTV to keep full power focused on navigating harsh remote conditions while carrying personnel and/or cargo.
The specific Webasto Fuel-Fired Heater installed - (Webasto Air-Top 2000ST) offers immediate heat without idling. The heater provides 7,000 BTU's of automatically (thermostatically) controlled warmth. In simple terms, the heater will respond to temperature needs automatically activating to maintain the desired temperature.
Most importantly, the heater is efficient (consumes approximately 1-gallon only when operating for 22 hours non-stop). Other notable pros include the quiet operation, CARB-approval, and EPA-SmartWay verification. CARB (California Air Resources Board) approval is a testament that the heater has met high air quality standards. EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) SmartWay verification is proof that the heater meets high fuel efficiency and emission standards.
Loch Lomond Equipment Sales can add some additional exterior lights to increase visibility when travelling at night — which arrives very early in the winter months. Every Argo Winter Road Edition can match your needs. For instance, Loch Lomond Equipment Sales can install a cab without a heater if that's what you’d like.
What's more, other creative customization can be done i.e., custom boat, canoe racks, and more.
Existing clientele use the Argo Conquest XT Winter Road Edition in many ways. The XTV also comes recommended for many reasons. The most notable include;
Initial site assessment: The Winter Road Edition is equipped to go into the most remote sites to assess the status of roads and other conditions before personnel, or other equipment can be sent. In winter road construction applications, the XTV can be taken out to see if the winter road can be built along the same route (since obstacles like fallen trees may have blocked the way).
Travel where other equipment/vehicles can’t reach: Existing sites may not be accessible via typical vehicles like snowmobiles during certain times of winter. If snow is scarce, the ground isn't frozen enough, or there is ongoing winter road construction, small swamps, creek crossings, etc., regular vehicles like snowmobiles aren't adequate. Such times demand specially designed XTVs like the Argo Winter Road Edition.
Comfortable and secure travel: The Winter Road Edition is also designed with a strong aluminum cab and other accessories like a heater to offer added comfort and security. You are going into unknown territory and conditions. When we designed the cab, we made sure to maintain the integrity of the ROPS (Roll Over Protection System) for your safety and add a heater for your comfort.
The total cost of modifying an Argo Conquest XT into an Argo Winter Road varies depending on the customization in question. Please
